Inside Football June 28, 1975.  The headline was “Who else would have 100 on their back Mal Brown.  Yes he is back and has done it in style.  For 15 weeks football’s Mr Controversial filled the role of non playing coach of lowly Claremont.  The reason on march 6, 1975 he was found guilty by the WANFL tribunal of having unduly interfered with field umpire Lindsay Baguley and having abused boundary umpire  David Price in an intra-club game.

 

After initially saying he would not play again  he sought a transfer from East Perth and an argument took place over several weeks as to the amount.   His return was against South Fremantle.
