Grant Povey played 53 games with Claremont during 1985 – 1988.  Grant Povey thrives in his new role with the Tigers.  Povey is one of a number of Claremont players who have resurrected their careers under Gerard Neesham. Povey broke into league football as a half forward flank but it has been at the other end of the field that he has enjoyed his best form in league football.

He has become an integral part of the Claremont defence where his dashing runs up the field have been the hall-mark of his game. “Gerard initially tried me as a wingman and then moved me to the half-back-flank and now I have played 26 games on the trot and I enjoy it” he said. Last week was important for Povey to show he should be picked for the WA side to play the VFA on Tuesday.
