c1980 “I L♥VE ” WAFL Claremont tin badge

In Victoria in the early 1980s, you could buy buttons for VFL clubs that said “I Love Collingwood” or “I Love Essendon”. You could also buy buttons that said “I Hate Collingwood” or “I Hate Essendon”. We didn’t bring across the “I Hate” buttons, but we did like the idea of the “I L♥ve” set and copied the design for the WAFL clubs. They were made in the standard 58mm button size of the day .
