Bruce Duperouzel had just played in his first Interstate game and what a performance he displayed. In his first game he slammed on 6 goals to nearly take away the game from Victoria for W.A’s first win.
The following week back with Claremont and with a large lead over South Fremantle Duperouzel went to ground in agony, his ankle twisted at a grotesque ankle. he was only 20 and it looked like it had shattered a strong football and cricket career.
