2017, March 17, West Australian, Story and photos “Bolton soars to No.1 spot” and photo of Jye Bolton and Chris Phelan.  Jye Bolton produced one of the most stunning debut seasons in WAFL history last season. No Victorian recruit has had such an impact in WAFL ranks since the Australian Football hall of fame legend Haydn Bunton arrived in  1938 to immense fanfare and immediately lived up to it by winning the first of 3 Sandover Medals.  Bolton, the Claremont midfielder not only secured the Simpson medal against Tasmania with a 46 possession game but his prolific ball gathering ability saw him  romp to a Sandaover Medal win
