The Tigers started the defence of the Foxtel Cup in fine style with a convincing 54 point win over Southport. The Tigers won through to the second semi final of the elite State competition with a 12.8. to 2.4. win. Such was Claremont’s dominance the first goal for the Sharks did not come till after the half time siren. Jeremy McGovern was the star for Claremont early with with 9 possessions, six marks and three goals, The recruit offered a strong focal point in attack and was one of the best players with Tom Swift. Debutants Jack Richardson and Harrison Court were impressive while ruckman Mitch Andrews had 43 hit outs.
