2006, June 9, The West, Photo and story under headline “Marvellous Macca a recognised Legend”.  ten hours after the socceroos beat Japan in their World Cup finals opener, Andrew Taylor was hard at work keeping Australian Rules alive for the next generation.  Armed with a massive bag of Burleys, the Claremont promotions and junior development officer was at West Leederville Primary School where his patience and charm was winning over a group of 5 and 6 year old’s to the joys of Australian Rules.

Taylor did his bit for football all week but it was a more specific cause, a Claremont victory over Swan Districts on Saturday which wah his most valuable contribution.  In the second half Claremont started to up their game and they can thank Taylor for that.  Dashing from half back where he had a licence to rebound by Coach Ash Prescott, Taylor had a purple patch where he delivered a series of sparkling passes into attack and helped the team eventually find top gear.
