1994, February, West Australian, Story and Photo “Povey to bolster Tigers backline”. Claremont have lost 2 dashing half backs this season but they got one back with the return of Grant Povey. Povey has returned to WA after a 5 year stint in Victoria which included 2 injury riddled seasons with Carlton. The 26 year old started training with Claremont last night and is looking again at playing under Gerard Neesham. Daniel Southern and Dale Kickett the linchpins of the Claremont defence last year have left the Club. Long raking kicks and hard running were a feature of his game when he played for Claremont in the premiership of 1987 and runner up in 1988.
