1994, September 11, The  Sunday Times Newspaper under headlines “Tigers roar back into flag  contention.”

Claremont silenced their growing band of critics and surged back into premiership favouritism with a decisive 41 point win over East Fremantle in yesterday’s second-semi final.  The victory was sweet for the man that plotted the downfall.  Tiger’s coach Mark Riley has been under enormous pressure since taking over from firmer coach Gerard Neesham.

The Tigers advanced to the Grand Final through full-forward Paul Morgan who kicked 8 goals and dominant mid-fielder Brendan Green. Apart from Green the Tigers were driven by Jamie Merillo, Gavin Mitchell and winger Kevin Holmes.  The win was set up by the Claremont defence, running defenders Brad Wira, Quenton Leach, Scott Chisholm, Darrell Panizza and Anthony Jones.
