1993,   The West Australian Newspaper under heading ” Panizza walks tall in defence”.  Tigers veteran Darrel Panizza the smallest centre-half-back in the league turned in another giant performance as Claremont thrashed reigning premiers Swan Districts by 74 points at Claremont Oval yesterday. Panizza 32 is enjoying his stint in defence and using his skills and ball reading skills to run off his bigger slower opponents to set up his forwards.

Other Claremont players to play well in the defence, which is the tightest in the league are Phil Gilbert, Dale Ballantyne, Scott Edwards, Paul Burton and Brian Beresford.

Claremont’s running mid-fielders have also played well including Kevin Mitchell, Steve Malaxos and Andrew McGovern.  Full-forward John Hutton capped off the great work with 9 goals and Darren Kowal kicked 4 goals.

Photo is of Steve Malaxos in the hot seat and Mike Richardson goes the punch and it was one of the few times in the game when Swans won at anything.
