1993, November 22, West Australian Newspaper, heading “Money crisis dogs Tigers”.   A meeting with the auditors this morning will reveal the extent of Claremont’s financial crisis.   The Tigers despite being one of the most successful Clubs still face a substantial financial loss.    Last week Claremont General Manager Russell Cox tried to quash rumours that they were in the second debt crisis in three years.

President John O’Connell had agreed that the financial situation had deteriorated after they were looking at a small profit in the middle of the year.  In 1990 Claremont President told the Club that they had to find $300,000.00 or face extinction.
