Leonard’s  playing and coaching record is second to none.  He played more than 150 games in WAFL, VFL and State games.  He had 146 games for Subiaco between 1922 to 1930 and then coached west Perth and Claremont.  He also had a stint as captain coach of South Melbourne in the VFL.

His contribution on Saturday will be remembered Saturday when the clubs play for this trophy.  Leonard 90 will be the special guest for the game.  He won the 1926 Sandover medal and runner up in 1927 and 1928.  He won Subiaco’s fairest and best for four years. In 1938 Leonard had an association with Claremont as Coach and they won Claremont’s first premiership in 1938 and then completed a hattrick of wins in 1939 and 1940.
