1993, August 9, West Australian Newspaper, heading ” Gerreyn a perfect substitute”.  Chris Gerreyn capitalised on a team mates misfortune to play a significant role in Claremont’s 68 point win over Swan Districts at Claremont Oval yesterday.

Gerreyn was thrown into the ruck in the second quarter when Clinto Wolf strained a hamstring and made the most of the opportunity.  He won handsomely in ruck contests, worked hard around the ground and finished off his constructive play with three great goals.  Gerreyn was also used in the ruck the previous week when Wolf came off again and handled the position well.   Gerreyn has been drafted by Hawthorn but has put that behind him to win this years premiership.
