1992, May 10, West Australian, Story and photo “Cornered Tigers savage soft, complacent Bulldogs “.  Gerard Neesham’s team of tyros, in danger of being the competition’s chopping block this season, struck back with a vengeance by beating South Fremantle at Fremantle.  Claremont, decimated by the AFL draught last November and on the end of four consecutive drubbings showed they are still finals prospects with a 15 point win over the second placed bulldogs.  Young centreman kelvin Holmes, Brendan Hendry, Brad Smith, Damon Lukins, Mat Elliott, Mark Edwards, Chris Gerreyn and Gary Pope all rose to the occasion.  Not just the kids but Mark Hann, Scott Edwards, Brian Beresford, Darrell Panizza and Tony Evans and his masterstroke of starting Phil Gilbert at centre-half-forward.  Paul Morgan a former South Fremantle player kicked 3 goals for Claremont.
