1991, June 24,  an article and photograph in the West Australian Newspaper on Geoff Miles.  Gerard Neesham has not only proved he is skilled at identifying raw talent but also that he can teach old dogs new tricks.

Geoff Miles in both the Afl and the WAFL has shown that he is an uncompromising defender.   Initially in the back line with Darrell Panizza and Tony Begovich formed the meanest half back line in the WAFL.  After missing games with injury Miles was switched to the half forward line and in the last 4 games he has kicked 22 goals and seven straight on Saturday in a rout of South Fremantle.

This has now given Claremont a potent forward line with his partnership of John Hutton.    In the past month Miles and Hutton have kicked 41 of Claremont’s 70 goals.   Also outstanding were Kevin Mitchell and Andrew McGovern

The photo is of Geoff Miles getting a lift from Rob Fitzgerald to mark.
