Story “Neesham still shows Bulldogs new tricks”. In Albany on Saturday Gerard Neesham, the little general, proved a master at getting free and led Claremont to a 20 point win over South Fremantle. Neesham was outstanding both as a player and coach. His leadership in identifying a weakness in the Claremont game and grabbing hold of them and leading them back into the contest after South Fremantle kicked 8 goals for the first quarter. Dominant players for Claremont were Neesham, Peter Thorne, Dale Kickett and Brendan Barrows.
