1988,September, West Australian, story and photo headlined ” Lions in new Bid to call on Keene”.
This has a series of smaller stories and photos. A photo of Noel Morton and one of Michael O’Connell exhausted after playing Subiaco.
Subiaco are still trying to get permission to play Laurie Keene especially after being defeated by 25 points by Claremont. Claremont coach Gerard Neesham was pleased with the team and especially with the first half where they kicked 17.5 to 5.7. Peter Melesso played to his potential up forward and Peter Higgins was outstanding in the middle. David O’Connell can resume with the Tigers on grand final day.
A record breaking 11 goal opening quarter by Claremont helped sink Subiaco in the second semi final. It was a fierce opening, although Subiaco did fight back It was a great game by former Tigers captain Noel Morton who missed last year’s grand final with injury.
