1988, June, West Australian, story and photo headlined ” Demons flounder on the Claremont rock”. Perth’s Brad Edwards flattens Claremont’s Brian Sutherland in the attached photo.
Claremont’s rock solid defence and creative genius of Peter Thorne proved too much for a valiant Perth. The Tigers booted seven goals in the opening 20 minutes of the third term to douse the Demons fire and won 22.10 to 16.13. The six man defensive team starved Perth of opportunities particularly in the third term. Dashing defender Grant Povey, Cam Lewis, mark Brayshaw, Tony Beers, Peter James and John Scott as the star of the team.
