Claremont can thank Gerard Neesham and the goalkicking ability of their defenders for a gutsy win against a desperate but depleted East Perth at Claremont Oval yesterday. Neesham kept his side going all day particularly in a dismal first half with an excellent four quarter performance. His astute tactical moves turned the tide when little was going well for them. Neesham’s transfer of defenders John Scott to full forward and Peter Owens to a pocket lifted the flagging forward line who had only kicked 4 goals. Scott kicked 4 goals two in the last term while Owens added three to give the Tigers space.
