Story “Fighting Tigers made experts look foolish”.  At the end of 1963 things looked grim for Claremont.  They had finished on the bottom of the ladder and lost their captain coach Peter Pianto and their most valuable player Denis Marshall.  Jim Conway stepped in as coach and Les Mumme stepped up as captain.

This article is a full run down of the match and the spirit of the tigers.  Best were Dale Edwards, Brian Fairclough and Kerrin Guard.  Also the rucks Allen Mycock and john McIntosh held control with Les Mumme the best rover afield.
