1980 the “top recruit” Kevin Worthington from the Budget.  Claremont were sure they had pulled one of the best recruiting coups of the season when they enticed Kevin Worthington back from Victoria. The strongly built defender had left Claremont at the end of 1976 after playing 89 games with the Tigers.   Worthington now 27  returned to WA has been frustrated by a knee injury that sidelined him for several weeks.  Gerald Betts returned to Claremont with Worthington and is going to be a valuable recruit as well.
