1980 “Success Story” in the budget. One of the real success stories for the year has been the form of Norm Salomons. After 10 seasons of league football and 117 games many though his time was up especially as last year was injury plagued. However the 28 year old Salomons has bounced back and this year after a solid pre-season build-up and his form as a ruck-rover or rover has been consistently good.

1980 “Milestone” and “Norm makes his mark” were headlines in the budget. He played 153 games for Claremont between 1970 and 1980. It was back in 1970 when Salomons graduated from Mosman Park juniors to play with Claremont and he established himself as a quality small man.  However, it was 4 or 5 years before he established himself as a regular in the seniors.  Due to his tougher training style and fitness he became able to spend longer periods on the ball.
