1979, March 8, The West Australian, story and photo headlined ” Claremont fire broadside at SA Clubs”  Claremont president last night launched a scathing attack on the West Adelaide and North Adelaide football clubs and called for a review of the WANFL’s dealing with South Australia.  At the Directors meeting for the WANFL, Maskiell also questioned the advisability of playing South Australia.  His grievances are based on West Adelaide’s attitude to a clearance back to WA for Vic Melville and the stand taken by North Adelaide who want Claremont forward Brenton Hartfield.
