1979, March 24 The West Australian, Photo and story ” WA Clubs angry”  Two WA football clubs are incensed, – Subiaco and Claremont – with what they regard as shabby treatment handed out by Eastern States officials over interstate clearances.  two events took WA football by surprise and did nothing to help the rapidly depleting relationship between Victoria and South Australian Clubs.

Their were : 1. A decision by VFL Club Carlton to issue a writ on the WANFL and the Subiaco club over clearances for Vince Catoggio and geoff Ironmonger. 2. A decision by the National Football league appeals board to reject an appeal by Claremont  over the refusal of South Australian Club West Adelaide to release Vic Melville.

Both decisions confirm that WA is the poor relations of football in Australia.
