1979, April 1, The West Australian, story and photo headlined ” Claremont do a Royal job”  Claremont tipped as the big improvers for 1979 lived up to expectations when they beat East Perth at Perth Oval  The Tigers gave the Royals a start and then beat them in an enthralling match.  Claremont won 14.13 to 11.13.  It was a toss up between Robbie Melville and Peter Spencer who was best man in the game.  The depth of talent for Claremont started with Graham Moss and the Krakouer Brothers who all had quiet games.  However few were better than Kim Trew, Geoff Curran and Robbie Melville, The Krakouers had 4 of the 6 goals till half time but very little effect other than that.
