1967 newspaper headline ” Double Shock for veteran Mumme”. the headline in today’s newspaper was the Les Mumme had retired. When spoken to Mumme was not aware that this decision had been made prior to Claremont Coach Jim Conway announcing it prior to the team list coming out. Conway stated he tried to contact Mumme but could not locate him.
Mumme stated that he had told the Coach that he would retire when Conway thought he could not hold his place in the league side and left the decision with Conway. he was upset with how it was all played out with the Club.
