1964 Claremont defeated West Perth and smashed the hoodoo West Perth have held over them for the past three years.  Claremont smashed the lagging visitors 23.199 to West Perth 8.7.

The article “Claremont fans loved it” stated “It was a riot, a rout and how the home fans loved it after a long tie in the wilderness”.   Lorne Cook was amazing, Guard and Lewis at half back with Clune Dethridge and John Fairbrass never put a foot wrong.

Cook played in the centre and Harvey were brilliant.  Claremont had three great followers in John Dethridge and John Fairbrass.  Claremont won in every position on the field.

Also with the article is a photo of Les Mumme on the goal line with Frank Margaria attempting to spoil the kick.  Kevin Clune marked the ball and then kicked through for a goal.  West Perth Mal McRae is partly blocking Wayne Harvey.
