1961 “Tigers hold off Bulldogs” against South Fremantle at Fremantle Oval. Trailing by 34 points at three quarter time, a withering burst was not enough to catch up to Claremont, who one by 8 points. Players for Claremont were Bill Byron and Aubrey King who kicked the first 2 goals. Other leading players were Peter Pianto, Les Mumme, Lorne Cook, Denis Marshall and Percy Johnson.
1961 “West Perth fight to stay top” . This with a photo of Claremont’s Neville Roberts despite efforts of John Towner. Wayne Harvey and Denis Marshall were both injured and hampered by those injuries and should not have played.
