Horrie Mercer article in Tiger Times

Two of the longest serving officials in the history of the Claremont Football Club were Horrie Mercer and Hugh Leckie.

They operated in tandem as President and Secretary respectively from 1936 to 1947.

Horrie because of his position at Drabbles, was able to find employment for a number of players at his store, which was only a few hundred metres from the Oval.

With Horrie and Hugh in running the organisation, it contributed in no small way to the establishment of Claremont as a real force in the W.A.F.L.
