“Claremont went bush to find football Stars”. Claremont are the most improved team in the League. To the credit of Captain-coach John Hyde who has changed Claremont from a bottom of the ladder team to a smooth attacking dangerous force capable of breaking the final four monopoly.
Claremont were unlucky to lose recent games but injuries to John Hyde and Norm Smith has affected them. Despite this Kelvin Allsop, Murray Ward and Les Mumme tore gaps in the powerful Perth defence. Early last year Claremont lost 5 champions from the team for various reasons; Sonny Maffina, John Munro, Ron Briggs, Noah Lee and John O’Connell.
Claremont had to get new players and needed to go bush. Half of the present team are from the country; Caffel, Clune, Roberts, Hall, Smith, Lally, Allsop and Mumme
