1995, August 20,  an article in the Sunday Times Newspaper “Hutton helps Tigers stay in the race.”  Claremont won  in tough conditions against East Perth at Claremont Oval yesterday.  The Tigers won by 6 points to keep them within a game of fourth place of East Fremantle with 2 games left in the season.

John Hutton was one of Claremont’s heroes at full back and showed a disciplined display against 2 AFL opponents in Paul Peos and Jeff White.  Hutton said he had not played at full back for 10 years since Graham Moss was the coach.  Those to assist him in the backline and played well were Laine Spencer and Troy Sutherland. Claremont dominated in the centre with rovers Dean Trovarello and Brendan Green while Chris Gerreyn continued his strong form kicking 3 goals.    Other good players were Joe Smith  and Neil Marshall.
