1990, April 1, Sunday Times, Photo and Story, “Magro blasts umpire after thriller”. South Fremantle coach Stan Magro launched a scathing attack on the umpires after his team lost by seven points to Claremont. Magro described the performance of umpires Scroop and Garrett as a disgraceful display. The aggressive Bulldogs coach was seething after the match when he verbally savaged the umpires. Claremont won after withholding a fightback by Swans. Early in the match Claremont’s runners Joe Cormack, tony Evans, Kevin Mitchell and Darrell Panizza tore through the Bulldogs midfield. Neesham was full of praise for youngsters Jason Norrish and Joe Cormack.
